There should be training wheels on power chairs!

There is a definite learning curve to operating a power chair joy stick. And I thought learning to drive a stick shift was impossible ( It was, I never did learn).
I keep telling myself, over and over again: "I love my new chair, it is wonderful and efficient. It makes my world easier to navigate, etc, etc, etc."

I have had my lovely new Chair just about a week and still have to take it down the ramp outside. My steering leaves a lot to be desired. I plan on taking it to Monday morning coffee at the clubhouse this week. I had best get on the stick 'cause tomorrow is Monday!
I did manage to run over part of my cat... her fur. She is a long haired type lying in the middle of the floor, fearing nothing and here I come... zip, out came a large chunk of fur. She yelped like a banshee, hissed and glared. Oh well, I missed her and she is still fearless and will not move when she sees me coming. I have tried beeping my ineffectual horn at her, I have pleaded, I have cajoled and short of climbing down from the Chair to move her, nothing will get her to react to the Chair or me.
Our other cat is properly leery of the Chair and particularly me in it. She is wise beyond her years.

I know that this Chair is my best and last bet towards decent mobility in and out of our house. I thank the Social Security gods for approving my application. I thank the Seating Specialist who patiently listed my statistics. I thank the folks who custom built the cushion and backrest. I thank the man who did the delivery and final adjustments. I thank my family and friends for being there for me. Most of all, I thank the good Lord for my life and giving me the good sense to try to make the most of my abilities or lack there of.
