Well, now, call us nuts, but, my husband and I have decided to start going to auctions of storage units. That occurs when a tenant does not pay their rent on their storage and the management of said storage auctions off the entire unit to the highest bidder.
I am well acquainted with this because my husband and I spent several years in Nevada asmini- storage managers. I cannot tell you how many units we auctioned off in five years or so. The legalities can be rather daunting and you have to be a stickler for accuracy in order to wade through the mumble jumble of legalise.
However, buying the unit can be a real head rush. What with the anticipation of what might lurk in those closed and sealed boxes in the corner of the storage unit. After all, you are not allowed to examine the contents of the unit until after the bidding is done and you have bought it. Why is that, you may ask? Well boys and girls, the unit belongs to the original tenant until the gavel hammers home and it is sold. You would be sorely embarrassed if the owner shows up at the last minute to pay his or her bill and there you are with your greedy mitts in his personal belongings.
We also attend other more conventional auctions and have picked up a couple of neat things. The problem is, I always want to keep stuff and hubby says: "Sell it...!!!!!"
We have a store named AAA Exciting Deals on EBay. We sell a few things, collectibles, such as Barbies, state quarters, silver eagles, porcelain dolls, etc.We definitely keep busy. It keeps his mind active and I have a ball!
